I.263 Codec
The I263 codec is a software module which you can install on your Windows which decompresses AVI files which were encoded using the Intel I.263 format. This format is very common although Intel does not have a downloadable version of the Codec available. It is also not contained within the Microsoft Media Player package. This is very frustrating, as this format is often used for AVI files posted to newsgroups. In fact, one of the more frequent questions on a multimedia newsgroup is "how the heck do I view this thing?"
I.263 was designed for the Windows operating system running on an Intel processor. It has excellent image quality and low CPU usage.
Intel does not have a downloadable version of this codec which includes the sound files. A version does exist at the SlaveTrainer site (Windows 95/98/ME and Windows 2000/XP versions). You can see the old FAQ for answers to questions (from The Profiteer's Lame Support Page)
