WAV Files
WAV files are the de-facto standard sound file format used on Windows and DOS machines. You can create WAV files easily if you have a sound card and a recording program (usually one ships with the card). Just about any Windows or DOS machine can play sound files as long as they have a sound card.
Some excellent digital audio editors are listed below.
- CoolEdit - If your Windows computer has a sound card or sound module (as almost all do), Cool Edit 2000 can turn it into a recording studio with all of the features used by professional audio engineers.
- GoldWave - GoldWave is a digital audio editor. It is ideal for people who need to work with audio for CD editing, games, Java applications, Web pages, radio and TV, or just for fun. You can use it to make everything from elaborate answering machine messages to professional, high quality CD audio content.
