Ecards

One service on the internet that I've absolutely fallen in love with is called ecards. This is a really cool, free service which allows you to send an electronic greeting card to your loved one, a friend, or anyone else.

The way these services usually work is simple. You go to their site and see a selection of pictures for your cards. You choose one, then enter some information, including your email address and name, and your recipients email and name.

Once you are done the card is sent to your recipient, who receives a small email with a hyperlink. This links to a web page which displays the ecard, graphics and all. Your friend then has the option to return a card back to you.

Since the web is about communication, I believe these services are an excellent way to stay in touch. I mean, if I'm stuck at work late I may send my lovely wife an ecard apologizing and explaining. Instant communication, and my wife knows to check her email if I'm late.
