Sometimes you need to change computers (for example, if you are buying a new one). Or perhaps you have a lot of favorites and just want to back them up. Here's how to export them into a file so you can use them later.

Internet Explorer 5
From the "File" menu choose "Import and Export...", and work your way through the wizard. On the second screen, choose "Export Favorites". On the third screen you can select which favorites you want to export. The forth and final screen allows you to export them to Netscape or to a file.

Example

This creates an HTML file (called bookmark.htm by default) which you can import back into Internet Explorer later, if you wish. The created file is a perfectly valid index of your favorites (which is also a good way to generate a list of favorite links for your web site).
